Kim was born on January 17, 1963 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a 1981 graduate of Captain Shreve High School and Centenary College of Louisiana, where she was an active participant in the choir and member of the Chi Omega fraternity.
She was a mother above all else, whose unconditional love for her children knew no bounds. Kim was an eternal optimist who taught her children to always find positivity in every situation. Her children always felt her love and cheer. Kim made every day feel like a special occasion for them, whether it be a "happy day gift" or warm, comforting hug. Kim viewed life as a celebration and especially enjoyed holidays, "happy heart" trails, and family Christmas traditions. The family's home was always filled with warmth and joy.
Kim could walk into a room of strangers and leave with a dozen new friends, due to her uncanny ability to bring joy to anyone. She was an active member of the Junior League and always gave her time to those in need. Her true passion was showing her love to her family and friends through her cooking. She was an accomplished chef, never shy to explore new recipes. You could always find Kim needlepointing, whether it was during LSU football games, waiting in carpool line, at one of her children's sports games, or even at the doctor's office.
Her home away from home, St. Mark's Cathedral held a very dear place in her heart. Each of her four children attended the day school and she was an active member of the church, where she participated in the choir and Altar Guild.
Kim was a beloved mother who fought cancer with every breath of her being, hoping to one day hear her grandchildren call her "Bunny." Her constant joy, laughter, and grace will forever shine down from heaven upon her family and friends. Kim is survived by her mother and father, Sue and John Cady of Shreveport, LA; her sister, Cindy Main and family of Fayetteville, AR; her children, James Herman Stroud II of San Marcos, TX; William Robert Stroud and partner, Dr. Steven Craig Vranian, Jr. of Charleston, SC; Edward Simpson Stroud and his wife, Frances Blount Stroud of Austin, TX; Margaret Cady Stroud, of Shreveport, LA; and their father.
Kim and her family are incredibly grateful to her friends, the St. Mark's community, and her healthcare and home health teams for the outpouring of love and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that gifts in her memory be given to St. Mark's Cathedral, Norton's Art Gallery, or Feist-Weiller Cancer Center.
