SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Shirley Thomas, 47, were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Mt. Mariah Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev. Milton Carroll of Bethel Baptist Church. Interment followed at Mt. Mariah Cemetery.
Shirley was born February 18, 1963 and passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010. She is survived by her son, Stephen Roberson; parents, James and Lizzie Thomas; sisters, Deborah (Rickey) Lee and L. Faye Thomas; brothers, K. Wayne and K. Dewayne Thomas. She was called "Auntie Shirley" by Angela, Jeremy, DJ, JR, Kenrique, Bruce and James. Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, Clerk of Court family, Captain Shreve Class of '81, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Shirley was a childhood friend of mine. We went to school together from kindergarten to twelve grade. We lived down the street from each other and we use to take piano lessons together and hated it. She was a jewel of a person and it was such a pain to hear of her loss. She was a beautiful person loved by many and although we loved her, God loved her best therefore he called her home to take her sweet rest. She will truly be missed but I am glad she was with us.
