 Karen Elizabeth Chavanne (Holtsworth)  


SHREVEPORT, LA - Karen Elizabeth Chavanne-Holtsworth passed away on September 5, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Karen was born February 12, 1963, in Orange, Texas to Elinor and Charles Chavanne. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elinor Culp Chavanne, brother, Michael Chavanne, and sister Denise Catherine Chavanne.

Karen is survived by husband, Bob Holtsworth, sister Shelley Chavanne Braswell and husband Robert, brothers Charles E. Chavanne, Jr. and Thomas C. Chavanne and wife Paula, nephews Eliot Chavanne, Drake Burton and Colby Burton, nieces Alexa Braswell, Carly Braswell, Caitlin Chavanne and Paylor Chavanne, father Charles E. Chavanne, Sr. and wife Ellen, stepdaughter Tammy Anderson and husband Randy Leger, stepson Terry Holtsworth and wife Zenita, 6 step grandchildren, 1 soon-to-be step granddaughter and Pepe, her special 4-legged friend.

Karen was an amazing wife to her husband Bob and a loving stepmother and step grandmother to her family. Karen was also a Red Cross trained certified nurse's assistant, lifeguard and veterinary technician. Generous and loving, even in the end, Karen donated her body to LSU hoping to help others.

The family would like to thank the Saint Joseph Hospice crew with a special thank you to Charlotte Farley for her loving, kind care and attention. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Saint Joseph Hospice of Shreveport or Feist-Weiller Cancer Center-LSU Health Sciences Center.

Karen was  a great friend who had a wonderful, deep laugh!  We played softball together at Shreve and had lots of great times before, during and especially after the games.  I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing and think of her often.
